The EC took the decision on Tuesday, after both the MPRF factions -- led by Upendra Yadav and Bijaya Gachchhadar -- furnished evidences to support their claims.
According to Poudel, the dispute will be presented before a bench comprising Acting Chief Election Commissioner Neel Kantha Uprety and Dolakh Bahadur Gurung. Lawyers representing both the factions will take part in the hearing.
In the evidence furnished before the EC on Tuesday, Yadav said his faction had asked the constitutional body to quash the application of the Gachchhadar faction and recognize his faction as the authentic one. “They do not have the support of even 40 percent of central committee members required to open a new party,” said Yadav on his faction´s demand for quashing Gachchhadar led faction´s application.
But Gachchhadar faction claimed that it should be awarded the official status as it had the support of majority -- 19 out of 35 -- central committee members of the party. However, Yadav said that seven out of 19 members, supporting the rival faction, had been expelled from the party and that they should not be counted as central committee members.
