KATHMANDU, Aug 26: Deputy Prime Minister Bijaya Kumar Gachchhadar and officials from the Ministry of Physical Planning and Works visited the residence of former Prime Minister Krishna Prasad Bhattarai to inspect the damage caused in the government-provided building.

Following the news that the one-story building at Badegaun, Lalitpur was in a sorry state due to poor construction, Gachchhadar also took contractor Sushil Babu Shrestha along with him.[break]

“This is serious,” an official in the visit quoted Gachchhadar as saying to Shrestha. The DPM asked Shrestha to remain there for the immediate repair.

The government had built the structure two years ago. Octogenarian Nepali Congress founding leader Bhattarai had shifted there one and half years ago.

It was reported that the front yard of the main building caved in following continuous rain for the past few days. With this cave-in, the compound wall built some four months ago has collapsed. All four corners of the house have also caved in. Water has been leaking in all the rooms of the main building including the kitchen.
