KATHMANDU, July 24: The ruling Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) has stressed the need for reaching a national consensus in the changed political context.

A standing committee meeting of the party on Friday urged other political parties to start dialogues and reach an agreement for taking the peace process to a logical end and accomplishing the task of writing a new constitution within the slated time.

The party meeting urged the government to declare diarrhea-hit Jajarkot, Rukum, Rolpa, Bajhang, Bajura, Kailali, Doti and Dadeldhura districts as health crisis areas and provide health facilities to the affected people on war footing.

Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal´s party CPN-UML on Friday blamed work by the government in the diarrhea-hit districts has been very sluggish.

The party also demanded that the government take immediate measures to control price rise of consumer goods.

CPN-UML formed a six-member central secretariat comprising party general secretary Ishwar Pokharel, secretaries Yuvraj Gyawali, Bishnu Poudel, and Shankar Pokharel, office secretary Ganga Lal Tuladhar and Parshuram Meghi Gurung.
