DAMAULI, July 12: Local residents in Shishaghat and Duipiple VDCs from Tanahun district disrupted the Damauli-Bhorletar road section from Tuesday.

They disrupted the road section with an objective for giving pressure to allocate the budget for the next fiscal year to construct a bridge over the Madi River. [break]

The local residents were forced to disrupt the road to draw the government´s attention for the construction of the bridge after Vice-chairman of National Planning Commission Dr. Dinesh Chandra Devkota rejected their proposal to include the project in the budget program for this fiscal year.

They said they have no alternative to take out the villagers to the road to pressurize the government to this effect.

The local committee under the East-West Hulaki Highway has demanded the bridge construction over the river based at the border of Tanahun, Kaski and Lamjung districts.

Committee´s chairman Din Bahadur Gurung warns of declaring other stern protest programs if the bridge was not included in the budget program.

The committee estimated Rs. 120 million for the construction. Around 5,000 passengers travels through 200 vehicles daily on the road section.
