KATHMANDU, Dec 12: Padam Kunwar, who slapped UCPN (Maoist) Chairman Puspha Kamal Dahal in public, said that he made a mistake by assaulting Dahal but cautioned leaders to rectify their ways to prevent such acts in the future.

Speaking at a program organized at Reporters´ Club on Wednesday, Kunwar also thanked Maoist cadres who thrashed him black and blue for his misbehavior with Dahal. “I have already been punished (by the Maoist cadres) for my misbehavior ”, he said. [break]

He termed his act as an instance of outburst of growing public rage against leaders for their persistent failure to give a way out to the present political impasse. "The leaders should be aware of public anger for their deeds," Kunwar cautioned.
Though Dahal bailed him out, Kunwar expressed his displeasure over Dahal having failed to take any initiative while he was still in police custody.

He said that he will not file complaints against anyone as reported in the media. “The TV footage clearly shows who else attacked me. But I won’t be filing complaint against any of them,” he said.

Mentioning that he and his family members were Maoist cadres, he made it clear that he is not affiliated to any party after the UCPN (Maoist) split and added that he would not be joining any political forces as there were enough leaders already.

Kunwar said he plans to invest money contributed by his sympathizers across the world in some social works.
