Chandra, who lived in Kalyanpur VDC-2, stepped out of his house to retaliate against the dacoits, who were mercilessly thrashing 75-year-old Chano Devi Sah. The dacoits had attacked Chandra with an axe and Khukuris.
Chandra´s murder has left his wife Jago Devi completely shattered. A grief-stricken Jago Devi frequently lost her consciousness on Friday. Chandra´s two little daughters and one physically disabled son are in grief after their father´s death.

On Thursday night, a group of some 15 dacoits had looted houses of Indra Dev Sah, Ram Sagar Mandal, Shyam Mandal, Musaharu Mandal and Ram Ashis Mandal in the village.
“The dacoits stormed into my house and threatened to kill my little grandson asking for money,” said Ram Ashish. “I said I had no money and asked them to take away whatever they found in my house. They then beat up my daughter-in-law and grandson.”
The latest robbery has terrorized the whole village. The villagers fear staying alone.
Meanwhile, a group of unidentified people on Thursday night killed an elderly in Okhaldhunga district. Ambika Prasad Ghimire, 87, who was killed while asleep in his own house, is the father of an appellate court justice Binod Sharma, according to Gaighat-based Republica correspondent Maheshwor Chamling Rai.
DSP Sudan Kumar Sijapati said that Ghimire, who was staying alone in his home, was attacked with knives. According to Sijapati, two separate teams of police have been deployed to investigate the murder and nab the killers.
