KATHMANDU, June 9: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Monday filed a charge sheet against Mayor of Birgunj Metropolitan City Rajesh Man Singh and six others on the charge of helping to acquire Nepali citizenship with the help of fake documents.
The CIAA lodged the case against Mayor Singh and others at the Special Court on charges of preparing fake government documents, causing harm to the nation and being engaged in corruption by preparing an ill-intentioned report, CIAA Spokesperson Suresh Neupane said.
CIAA files charge sheet against seven people in Rupandehi
According to Neupane, Mayor Singh provided a Nepali citizenship certificate to the daughter of a woman with the surname Bhattarai in the name of Rubina Shrestha as Mayor Singh's daughter.
Likewise, others facing a chargesheet include the ward secretary of Birgunj-3 Bhikhari Raya, ward member Tufail Akhtar Thakurai; then Administrative Officer of the District Administration Office, Parsa, Shad Kumar Pokhrel, then Under Secretary of Home Ministry Pushkar Rana and Section Officer Parshuram Pokharel and Rita Bhattarai of Indrawati Rural Municipality-10 in Sindhupalchowk district, according to the CIAA.
