KATHMANDU, Sept 5: Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) President Binaya Raj Pandey informed that they are looking for a new coach for the national team.

He said the upcoming board meeting of CAN would discuss about the replacement of coach Roy Luke Dias. Dias, a former batting star of Sri Lanka, has a contract till the end of December. He has been looking after the Nepali national squad since 2001. [break]

"Our performance has been stuck at a level for the last few years and we are seriously thinking about it," said Pandey. "Roy has established Nepali cricket to a level and we should not forget his contribution. However, Roy is a traditional coach and we are looking for a coach with new approach and acquaintance with technology," added Pandey.

Pandey also informed that CAN was thinking about a short-term contract with a coach. "It is hard to find a coach like Roy, who can enjoy Nepal. So, we are thinking about a ´part time´ coach as it would lower our expenses," said Pandey.

Pandey, however, was positive about captain Paras Khadka. He claimed that Khadka had achieved some success for the team in short time and proved himself as a successful skipper.

"We have formed the national team looking ahead into the 2015 Cricket World Cup, and we handed the responsibility to Paras as we were looking for young blood. It is not appropriate to change captain counting just an unfavorable result," explained Pandey.

Nepal had lost their campaign of qualifying for the Pepsi World Cricket League Division 3 after finishing third in Division 4 in Bologna, Italy. Nepal had lost to Tanzania in the league round while chasing a small total of 118 runs and it shattered Nepal´s dream of getting promoted.
