KATHMANDU, March 21: Constituent Assembly (CA) Chairman Subas Nembang has called a meeting of the CA for Sunday to hold deliberations on the report on state restructuring prepared by the State Restructuring Commission (SRC).

Manohar Bhattarai, general secretary at the CA secretariat, Wednesday issued a notice with regard to convening the CA meeting.[break]

The SRC report has been shelved at the CA chairman´s office for months after leaders from UCPN (Maoist) demanded that the SRC report be discussed at the CA thematic committee on state restructuring and other parties insisted on forwarding the report to the Constitutional Committee (CC).

Finally, the leaders agreed to table the report at a meeting of the full 601-seat CA for deliberations and then forward it to CC. Prior to that, CA Chairman Nembang will solicit suggestions from members of the CA´s state restructuring committee on Friday.

Officials at the CA secretariat said the suggestions offered by the committee members will be forwarded to CC, which is mandated to prepare an integrated draft of the new constitution, along with the SRC report.

After holding deliberations on the SRC report in the full House for a couple of days, the report along with the lawmakers´ feedbacks, will be sent to CC.
