Blue Sky support for Sports Awards

KATHMANDU, Aug 20: Blue Sky Group of Company Pvt Ltd on Friday decided to co-sponsor the Bajaj Pulsar Sports Award of the mid-western region to be organized by Nepal Sports Journalists´ Forum (NSJF), Banke branch, in Nepalgunj on August 30.[break]



Blue Sky Group Chairman and advisor to Nepal Volleyball Association Prem Katuwal handed over Rs 25,000 to Senior Vice-President of NSJF´s banke branch TS Thakuri amidst a function at the NSJF hall.



The NSJF central committee is organizing the Sports Awards at th national level on September 14 in Kathmandu.



Organizing a press conference in the capital on Friday, Thakuri said the awards will be organized to honor sports personalities of all 15 districts of mid-western region at a single forum.



A day prior to the award, the organizers have scheduled to organize a civic felicitation of record holder taekwondo player Deepak Bista  who has won a record fourth gold in South Asian Games.



The sports awards will be given in six different categories -- best male player, female best player, best youth player, best coach, special award and life time achievement award. Five sports personalities will be nominated for each of the first four categories. The players will be nominated on the basis of their performance last year.



Similarly, the special prize will be given to a sportsperson for his special contribution to sports while the lifetime achievement award will be conferred on a person who has dedicated his life to sports.



The award winners in all categories will be give cash prize of Rs 5,000, trophy and certificate.



Meanwhile, Katuwal also provided a support of Rs 5,000 for Hari Roakaya National Sports Journalists´ Award.  Nepal Sports Journalists´ Forum (NSJF), Banke, has been organizing the awards for the last four year.



NK Football from Aug 24



Sports Training and Recreation Club (Star) of Budhanilkantha School will organize the second NK Memorial Inter-college Football Tournament from August 24 in the memory of late Naryan Khadka.



Altogether 12 colleges of the capital are participating in the week long tournament, stated the organizers amidst a press confernce in the capital. 



The participating teams are divided into four groups and the top two teams from each will qualify for the quarterfinal stage. The expected cost of the tournament is Rs 200,000. Shree Budhanilkantha Higher Secondary School is the defending champions.



Valley public´s winning start



Valley Public School opened their campaign with a winning note during the Fifth Valley Public Inter-school Basketball Tournament on Friday.



The hosts grabbed victory in both boys´ and girls´ categories at home court in Galfutar.



The girls´ team of Valley Public defeated Clinton Public 31-20 in the opening match. Samichhan Bista contributed 19 points for the winners.



Likewise, the boys´ team of the hosts ousted Newton 48-39. Bijay Lama and Nima Tshering both scored 15 points each in their victory. In other matches of the girls´ category, Excelsior thrashed Mount Glory 20-3 while Himalayan Helpless Child Academy edged out Golden Peak 12-6. In the boys´ category, Excelsior, Mount Glory, Innovative, Golden Peak and Sky Lark won their respective matches. Altogether 35 boys´ teams and 22 girls´ teams are participating in the event that will conclude on August 30.
