Biratnagar tense after truck kills girl

BIRATNAGAR, July 13: Biratnagar remained tense on Monday as six student unions shut the main market and vandalized over a dozen vehicles after a college girl was killed by a truck on Monday. They obstructed vehicular movement by burning tyres at different places of the Biratnagar-Itahari road section.



The student unions have called an indefinite transport strike over the death, demanding compensation for the victim´s family and action against the guilty.



The girl has been identified as Narvada Chaudhari, an IA second year student at Mahendra Morang Campus. She was hit by the truck (Na 2 Kha 8782) while returning home from college.



Student unions claim that the truck driver intentionally running over the girl after she was hit.
