Banda enforcers set Saptari police post on fire

RAJBIRAJ, Aug 19: Irate banda enforcers have set a Bhardaha-based Nepal Police Post and a motorcycle on fire after vandalization in Saptari district on Wednesday morning.

Police personnel have been deployed to thwart any untoward incidents after a huge number of demonstrators gathered at Bhardaha Chowk.


A meeting of the local demonstrators held this morning decided to bring Rajiv Raut's body from Dharan-based B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for a funeral procession, said Shambhu Jha, leader of the Federal Socialist Forum Nepal. According to him the funeral procession will be organized from 4 pm today.

Cadre Raut had been rushed to Dharan-based B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences for treatment after being injured in the police firing yesterday. Raut had breathed his last on the way to the hospital.

Talking to journalists today, Nepal Communist Party (Maoist) leader Matrika Yadav has appealed all Madhesi leaders to join hands for Madhes movement.

The curfew imposed in Bhardaha of Saptari since Tuesday has been lifted this morning. The curfew had been enforced after the situation went out of control following the death of the protestor in a clash between police and demonstrators on Tuesday morning.
