As per preliminary investigation of the Area Police Office of Itahari, Chaudhari had been in illicit relationship with Mangali, whose husband has been working overseas for the last three years, and he killed her after she forced him to marry her.
"He (Chaudhari) carefully hatched a plot to kill her," said police inspector Shyam Sharu Magar. "As per his plan, he had brought her from Babiyabirta to Itahari."
Mangali was found dead in a bathroom attached with room number 202 of New Swagatam Hotel in Itahari on Wednesday morning. Chaudhari had brought her there Tuesday evening. He had booked the hotel room under a fake name.
According to the police, Mangali had left her home on Monday. She had spent one night in Biratnagar and then come to Itahari on Chaudhari´s motorbike.
According to DIG Devendra Kumar Subba (APF), Chaudhari, currently deployed in the Siraha-based Kankalini battalion of APF, had been on a five-day leave. He had submitted his leave application citing that he had to treat his wife. He had also drawn some money from his provident fund.
Mangali´s family had provided a clue to Chaudhari´s involvement in her murder. According to Ujal Lal Chaudhari, Mangali´s father-in-law, his dauther-in-law, who also has a five-year-old son, was missing from Monday. She had also taken Rs 60,000 before leaving her house.
On Tuesday, some neighbors saw her riding Chaudhari´s motorbike, which helped police in their investigation into Mangali´s murder.
