KATHMANDU, July 16: Advertising Association of Nepal (AAN) has announced the nominees of 6th Crity Award. The umbrella organization of advertising agencies in the country unveiled five nominees each for 20 different categories.
An independent judging committee had picked top five nominees for 20 different categories from amount hundreds of submissions. [break]
Apart from regular categories, AAN for the first time is awarding best young talent in the industry with Best Creative Youth Award.
Speaking on the occasion, Nirmal Raj Poudel, president of AAN, said the new category -- Best Creative Youth Award -- will encourage young people to enhance their career in the advertising industry. “Young talents in the industry, who are younger than 30 years, are eligible to compete in this category,” Poudel added.
AAN has made some changes in other categories as well. It has also added a new category -- Best Social Ad - in this edition of Ctiy Award.
AAN has also made some changes in the criteria to select winning entries. “While announcing the winner for best billboards, we will also consider various environmental, social and governmental factors,” he added. Poudel also said the 6th Crity Award will be promoted with the active involvement of Nepali media fraternity.
Of the total of 424 entries, AAN received 53 entries for Best Print Ad Category alone. Similarly, it received 41 entries for Best TV Commercial (TVC) and 36 entries for Best Radio Jingle. Among agencies, Prisma Advertising sent the highest number of entries, followed by Welcome Advertising and Max L´agence respectively.
A total of 54 agencies are participating in the sixth edition of Crity Awards.
Though there has not been much increment in the number of participating agencies, the encouraging number of entries shows strong competition among agencies for each category in 2010.
The 5th Oranjeboom Crity Awards was a culmination of two years -- 2008 and 2009. It had a total of 334 entries, with 31 agencies competing for 20 categories.
AAN organized the first Crity Award in 2004 in order to recognize the talent of advertising professionals in the country.
