The photojournalists, who boycotted the sixth Annual General Assembly after being denied time to propose the re-definition of membership in the stature, alleged leadership of not working to resolve the issue.[break]
“The leadership neither initiated talks for solution nor made any decision on the issue thus we felt it’s immoral for us to remain members of the organization,” the photojournalists stated in their resignation letter.
Those who resigned include founder-president Chandra Shekhar Karki and former president Bikash Rauniyar. Karki said that they were dissatisfied after non-professional photojournalist and photographers were given membership and the misuse of ID card and press jacket.
Rauniyar claimed that NFPJ failed to work for the rights and welfare of photojournalists.
Other who resigned include Narendra Shrestha, Kian Pandey, Salikgram Tiwari, Shruti Shrestha, Laxmi Prasad Dankhushi, Ravi Manandhar of Kantipur Publications, Bikash Karki, Bhaswor Ojha, Bijay Rai, Bijay Gajmer, Keshav Thoker of Nepal Republic Media, Shridhar Poudel, Gyandendra Karki of Naya Patrika daily, Rajendra KC, Samir Lama, Dwarika Kafle, Niraj Sapkota of Rajdhani daily, Ujjwal Dangol of Nepal Samacharpatra, Sunil Pradhan, Dipak Gaunle of Karobar daily, Purushottam Baran of Abhiyan daily, Bikash Dware of Gorkhapatra Corporation, Nibendra Pradhananga, Sanchit Lamichhale of Boss magazine, Prakash Mathema of AFP, Prakash Timilsina of the Reporter, Ram Prasad Humagain of NepalNews, Bimal Gautam of Xinhua and freelancer Bibhusanraj Shakya and Shailendra Kharel.
