KATHMANDU, Sept 29: Electricity production at Mandu Hydropower has been halted after severe floods and landslides triggered by continuous rainfall since Friday caused extensive damage to the hydropower structure.

The 22 MW project, located in Bhimphedi, Makwanpur, has suffered damage to both its powerhouse and headworks, according to company officials. The plant's operations have been disrupted, and the company reports that the situation is currently beyond their control. Full details of the damage are yet to be confirmed as the assessment of the impact from the flooding continues.

The Bagmati River's rising waters have posed significant challenges to infrastructure in the region, with Mandu Hydropower being one of the most affected projects.
