The bitter reality of our education system

The bitter reality of our education system

Isn’t it funny that those who are deprived of facilities are keener in studies? Yet, those who are blessed with all facilities blame how rigorous the education system is. Yes, it’s sad, but it also is a bitter aspect of the society.

Even in the central region, considered to be the most developed, many children are denied of their basic education because they either lack the proper support from their guardians or are victims of child labor. Away from the Central Development Region, the situation is even worse. In Karnali, students need to complete a 4-hour long hike, crossing the fast-flowing rivers, suspending on a rope with the support of a hook. After spending some six hours in the school, they take the same long route back home.

So, where is the solution? While we expect the government to provide assistance, it’s evident that they are not all ears to this kind of plight. Due to this, countless children have become victim to the ignorance of the authority. Instead of having colorful lives, full of joy, they are engaged in labor activities from an early age.
It’s the truth that their conditions are pathetic, but there is nothing more we can do than hope for positive changes, and anticipate that the problem will eventually solve. However, bear in mind that, this cannot be executed with only one body’s participation.

In a retrospect, like Aristotle said, “The roots of education are bitter, but the fruits are sweet,” the people graduated from this kind of environment are the real heroes who have proven what hard work, dedication, and passion can bring.
