Souls of my city: Selling his childhood

Souls of my city: Selling his childhood

In spite of his young age, Gajendra Baitha is yet to relish the privileges of a young boy. At an early age of just eight years, he was handed with toys and candies to seek profit, to make ends meet for his family.

Seven years have passed since he was bestowed with the responsibility of earning for his family, he explained without losing the smile on his face. With every year elapsing, he seemingly loses the yearning to go to school. “I have never known how it feels to dress up and go to school,” he said, still carrying the bamboo pole packed with cotton candies, and inflatable toys. One can find Gajendra Baitha strolling around Basantapur flaunting a cherubic smile. Regardless of the hardship, he says he finds immense joy in his work.
