Province 7 allocates Rs 50m for Fapla Cricket Stadium

KATHMANDU, June 16: The Province 7 government has allocated a budget of Rs 50 million for the construction of the Fapla International Cricket Stadium for the fiscal year of 2018/19. 

The announcement of the budget was unveiled on Friday by Province 7 Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning, Jhapat Bohora.

The coordinator of Dream Fapla project under which the stadium will be built with the proposed Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, Subash Shahi said he was encouraged with the government’s allocation of the budget. 

“I am assured that Fapla will not only develop far-west’s cricket but will also play key role in promoting tourism, and economic sector in the region,” expressed Shahi on social media.

Fapla is located in Dhangadhi, Kailali, which is two kilometers north of Chauraha on the bank of Mohana River in Boradadi with an area of 1369 square meters. 

So far cricket tournaments in Dhangadhi are played at the Dhangadi Stadium. During the sixth National Games, cricket was shifted to the Seti Zonal Police Ground premises from 2015.

A 3-D master plan of architectural design consisting of a playground, a gym, locker rooms, a swimming pool, a training house, parapets, a VIP Stand, a media center, and an accommodation area, among other facilities was released in 2016.

The stadium was estimated to hold the capacity of 40,000 spectators.
