KATHMANDU, June 21: After the death of Senior Neurosurgeon Upendra Devkota the name of Neuro Hospital is decided to be changed to ‘Upendra Devkota Memorial National Institute of Neurological and Allied Sciences’ from 'National Institute of Neurological and Allied Sciences before.'

Office of the Company Registrar on Wednesday provided the certificate of the registration to Basanta Devkota, Engineer, Neuro Hospital. According to Devkota, ‘it was decided a long ago to name it when Dr. Upendra Devkota was there hence, the procedure was continued ahead.’

Other procedures for the name change are yet to be finalized.

Devkota had made a significant contribution to the field of neuro surgery. Credit of establishing the Department of Neuro Surgery goes to Devkota. He had also served for 25 years at Bir Hospital.
