Incessant rainfall swells Narayani River

CHITWAN, July 26: Narayani River has witnessed this year’s biggest flood on Tuesday.

The Flood Forecasting Division at Department of Hydrology and Metrology has asked the people from Devghat to Triveni, Nawalparasi to stay cautious till tomorrow morning as the water level is on the rise.

The water level in the river has crossed the danger mark, 8.4 meters.

Information Officer at District Development Committee, Balram Luitel said that the water level in the river was 9.6 meters at 3pm.

Water has gushed inside the settlement of landless squatters.

Meghauli Divyanagar of Eastern Chitwan is at a high risk as the river has continued to erode land, according to a local, Krishna Bhurtel.
