KATHMANDU, Sept 18: Indian singer/songwriter Gaurav Dagaonkar, popular for his YouTube mash up songs, will for the first time lend his voice for a Nepali film.

Dagaonkar has agreed to record two songs for the upcoming Nepali film ‘Romeo and Muna’, which will star Vinay Shrestha and former Miss Nepal Shristi Shrestha.

Like his last film ‘Resham Filili’, Vinay Shrestha will also serve as a producer in ‘Romeo and Muna’.

Vinay Shrestha said that after hearing Dagaonkar’s mash up cover of ‘Jaalma’ from ‘Resham Filili’, he was interested in working with Dagaonkar. Released in April of last year, Dagaonkar’s video titled ‘Jaalma/Sooraj Dooba Hai’ has till now amassed 790K views on YouTube.

Kali Prasad Baskota, who composed and sang the original song, will collaborate with Dagaonkar in one song for ‘Romeo and Muna’, while the other song will be Dagaonkar’s own composition.

“I’ve made lots of Nepali fans and friends through YouTube and Facebook. This has inspired me to work in the Nepali music scene,” said Dagaonkar in an official statement released by the film’s makers.

Dagaonkar has sang for Bollywood actors like Manoj Bajpayee and Akshay Kumar, and has composed songs for singers like Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Sunidhi Chauhan and Shreya Ghoshal.

‘Romeo and Muna’ is slated to be directed by Naresh Kumar KC.
