KATHMANDU, Mar 18: Minister of Labor and Employment Gokarna Bista has said that the government is preparing to amend the foreign employment act. Stating that the employee visiting abroad are suffering as it has not been amended since many years, Minister Bista stated that his first priority is to amend the act which will be as successful as the energy act.

Similarly, Minister Bista said that the government is planning to decentralize the department related to the foreign employment. Though the country has adopted the federal system, the foreign employment department could not be structured into decentralization form.  However, the constitution is silent on this issue.

“The government is planning to decentralize the department by the amendment of the act and will establish offices, one in Province 2 and one in the western region for the work permit”, informed Bista adding that he has already directed the Director General and Secretary of the department to start working out in this issue. Likewise, he informed that the Ministry can now collect the complaints registered by the victims of the foreign employment.  Previously, the ministry used to collect the complaints once a week on Tuesday.
