Businessman shot at in Bhairahawa, unhurt

BUTWAL, Dec 7: An assailant opened fire at the Vice-president of Siddharthanagar Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Kul Prasad Neupane in Bhairahawa on Tuesday evening.

However, Neupane is unhurt. He had a narrow escape as the bullet pierced through his jacket without causing any injury.

Neupane said that a motorcycle-borne person opened fire at him when he was reading newspaper at Muktinath Food Industry.

Later police arrested Birendra Yadav from Lumbini Road on the charge of shooting at Neupane, according to Superintendent of Police Rabindra Dhanuk. All the entry points to the city were sealed after the incident.

Earlier in the day, the Siddharthanagar Chamber of Commerce and Industry had staged a demonstration against the constitution amendment bill, which proposes splitting Province-5. Local businessmen are scared after Neupane was attacked within a few hours of participating in the demonstration.
