DHANGADHI, March 12: Ghodaghodi municipality mayor Mamata Prasad Chaudhary was injured in a gunshot fired by an unidentified group. 

The unidentified group attacked him with sharp-edged weapon and opened fire at his residence in Sukhkhad bazaar of the municipality this evening, said District Police Office Chief SP Binod Ghimire. 
Injured Chaudhary was first taken to Ghodaghodi hospital and later rushed to Nepalgunj hospital for further treatment, said Chief District Officer Govinda Prasad Rijal. 

He sustained bullet injuries on leg and waist. Likewise, he also had head injury in khukri attack. 
Mayor Chaudhary was accused of preventing the registration of complaint at police office in an incident of brutal manhandling of Radha Chaudhary on charge of practicing witchcraft at Deukaliya village of the municipality on last Thursday. 

Police said that investigation into the incident is underway.(RSS)
