Jan 7:  A tea seller pours tea to a customer at Basantapur. Kathmandu saw the coldest day of the year after temperature dipped to zero degree Celsius.  

Jan 8: Dr Govinda KC started his 14th hunger strike demanding reforms in the country’s medical sector. He ended his fasting on Saturday after after signing a 5 point agreement with the government Friday midnight. 

Jan 9:     Water froze in Manang after temperatures dropped to -16 degrees.  Across the country, winter is taking its tolls, especially in the Terai where more than 20 people have died.

Jan 10: Kathmandu’s pollution levels exceeded 180µg/m3 since January 10, the highest ever recorded by Republica’s Valley Pollution Index.   

Jan 11: People marched a rally to mark the 296th Prithivi jayanti in Singhadurbar, Kathmandu. 

Jan 12:  Student leaders of Nepal Student Union (NSU) handover dust and mask to Deputy Mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi as a symbol of their protest against the air pollution in Kathmandu Valley in front of Kathmandu Metropolitan City office at Sundhara in Kathmandu. 

Jan 13: Youths marched from Bhrikuti Mandap and walked up to Basantapur carrying national flag and demanding employment within the country. They also demanded to scrap federal and proportional ratio system, urged to protect the culture and tradition, provision of right to reject and right to recall among others.
