TANAHUN, Jan11: Though imported clothes are used in high number in Nepal, local handmade dhaka clothes are also in demand. The products are specially gaining popularity in Tanahun Baazar as they are selling in good number.
According to the local business owners, clothes made of dhaka such as caps, mufflers, saris, kurtha suruwals, and shawls as well as bags are the most popular. Nevertheless, the production rate of these dhaka items has not been able to meet the demand. To fulfill this gap, the Department of Cottage and Small Industries Development Board, Damauli has been providing the local youths with the skill to weave dhaka items to boost production.
About the training, Bishwo Bhadra Khanal, deputy director at the Department, said, “With the help of main branch office of Cottage and Small Industries Development Board at Damauli, the training in Tanahun will is being provided to increase the production and to promote dhaka business. According to him, handmade dhaka are being produced from different parts of the district like Damauli, Phirphire, Saaraanghat, Devghat, Raipur, Magde and Suklagandaki.
