Arati, Ishara bags gold in school level national karate championship

KATHMANDU, July 16: Arati Thapa and Ishara Karki bagged gold medals on the opening day of First Madan Bhandari School Level National Karate Championship on Sunday. Arati of Prashansha Dojo defeated Suhana Rana of Genius School in the girls’ U-20 kg category final while Sandhya Thapa and Aisha Thapa won bronze medals in the same event. 

Similarly, Lok Hit School’s Ishara saw off Roshna Khadka of the same team in the girls’ U-25 kg category summit clash to win the gold while in the same event Kuwasha Badhuwa and Nisha Upadhyay snatched bronze medals. 

In the girls’ singles kata, Bhanubhakta Memorial School’s Dilasha Thapa Magar bagged gold beating Dipika Thapa Magar of the same school in the final while Krishna Dahal and Ajina Sharma wrapped up the competition with bronze medals.    

Similarly in the boys’ kumite U-20 kg category, Prabesh Subedi of Prashansha Dojo, bagged gold beating  Devson Rai of Modern Boarding School in the final while Ayush Bhujel and Anjan Tamang snatched bronze medals. 

Bhanubhakta’s Devendra Magar became champion in boys’ U-25 kg category as he defeated Ajay Lama of Prashansha Dojo in the final while Gopi Siwakoti and Ayush Bogati bagged bronze medals. In the boys’ singles kata as well, Bhanubhakta’s player became champion as Inash Rana defeated Dipendra Rana Magar of Prashansha Dojo in the summit clash. In the same event, Bhanubhakta’s Milan Magar and Kiran Tamang snatched bronze medals. 

The two-day event being organized by Madan Bhandari Sports Academy at Dasharath stadium’s covered hall, Tripureshwar, is featuring 300 players from 28 schools and dojos. Participants are fighting for 12 golds in boys’ section and 10 golds in girls’ section.
