KATHMANDU, OCT 9: Journalist Jagadishor Panday, who has been reporting for media outlets for more than 12 years, was awarded for his significant national and international contributions to Nepali journalism and the media industry. The award was presented by Joyce E Watterman, Council President of the City Council of Jersey City, during the 6th Annual Red Saree Event organized by Hudson Speaks against Sexual Violence (HSASV).

The award was handed over by Cinthiya Vazquez, Interim Director of the Department of Health and Human Services in the City of Jersey, and Senior Program Coordinator of HSASV, Bishnu Maya Pariyar, on behalf of Council President Watterman.

Panday's award recognizes his profound contribution to the field of journalism, particularly in foreign affairs, geopolitics, and defense reporting over the past 12 years. His investigative reporting has covered a wide range of topics, including UN Peacekeeping missions, the COVID-19 pandemic, and national security issues, which have influenced how readers consume news in times of national challenges.

The award letter highlights Panday as the recipient of the prestigious Raham Al-Farra (RAF) Memorial Journalism Fellowship awarded by the United Nations. He was chosen as one of the fellows for the RAF program in 2021 and 2023.

Additionally, the letter mentions Panday's involvement as a mentor and jury member for the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA-Asia)'s Mentorship Program in 2023. Currently, Panday is associated with the Kantipur Daily newspaper.
