‘Young Artist's Show 2022’ on display

KATHMANDU

With an aim to create a platform for freshly graduated Fine Arts students, Gallery Mcube organized Young Artist’s Show 2022 (YAS 2022), a group exhibition by 10 artists from three different Universities of Fine arts in Nepal. This is the second edition of the show presented at Gallery Mcube, Patan.

YAS 2022 is curated and executed by visual artist Manish Lal Shrestha. The participating artists - Anil Machamasi, Bishal Maharjan, Chiranjibi Shrestha, Denish Maharjan, Prakash Pun Magar, Priyanka Singh Maharjan, Sabin Acharya, Shreemila Shrestha and Sofiya Maharjan - are the selected ones, chosen from around 42 applicants via the open call. This year the exhibition is a collateral event with the Kathmandu Triennale 2077 happening throughout the month of March.

The artists of the Young Artists Show 2022 are individuals with strong voices working and exploring new ways, both subjectively and technically. This exhibition showcases multidisciplinary works by artists coming from different backgrounds, working on different subjects and exploring different mediums. From a deeply personal level of works to socio-cultural subjects, and from traditional Nepali content to futurist activism (or environmental activism?), the YAS 2022 covers a large area of ideas. The artworks consist of painting, printmaking, sculpture, pen and ink, stitching, installation and performance art.

The objective of the Young Artists Show is to provide motivation and uplift young energy, creating a ground for them to acknowledge their ownpotential. This can hopefully be a platform for them not to be at loss after graduating and provide confidence about how they can explore and work as a visual artist in the current art society as per a press statement issued by Gallery Mcube.
