World Newah Conference concluded

The Newah Organization (WNO) celebrated its 10th anniversary with a virtual global conference titled 'Global Newah: The Next Milestone' on December 30 and 31, 2020.

According to a press statement released by WNO, there were a total of 180 guests present online.  The conference was opened by culture expert Satya Mohan Joshi emphasizing the urgency to preserve Nepalbhasa and internationalize it by translating it into other languages, including English. 

Prof Gerard Toffin from France delivered the keynote lecture titled ‘The religious world of Guthis. Three facts of Newar civilization, Nepal’, in which he explained the cultural aspects of the Jyapu community and Hindu-Buddhist dance and musical traditions associated with them.

A total of 23 presenters from 13 different countries made presentations on various issues including education, language, culture, heritage, activism, culinary heritage and classical literature.

WNO Senior Vice-President Narayan Rajbhandari briefed about various projects and activities carried out by WNO in the last one decade since its establishment in 2011.
