March 11, 2011: Massive Earthquake Hits Japan

An earthquake with a magnitude of 9.1 hit the coast of Japan causing massive amounts of damage and dangerous tsunamis, making it the most powerful earthquake in Japan in recorded history. 

 March 10, 1876: First telephone call

 Alexander Graham Bell, inventor of the telephone, made the first call on March 10, 1876, to his assistant.  Alexander Graham Bell places the world's first telephone call, to his assistant in the next room.

March 11, 1918: U.S.A Influenza Epidemic

The first cases of one of the worst influenza epidemic (FLU) in history are reported at Fort Riley, Kansas it would eventually kill more than 1/2 million Americans and more than 20 million people worldwide.
