TFN with ‘One Day in a Classroom’ initiative

KATHMANDU, Dec 16: The 'One Day in a Classroom' initiative by Teach For Nepal is being held from December 13 to 17. Under the initiative, ambassadors, editors and celebrities, among others, are visiting rural public schools to teach children. 

For the initiative, Prakash Rimal, editor at The Himalayan Times, Guna Raj Luitel, editor at Nagarik National Daily, Charu Chadda, editor at Media 9 Pvt Ltd, Subash Ghimire, editor at Republica National Daily, Malvika Subba, TV personality, Indira Rana Magar, founder of PA Nepal, Kiran Shrestha, manager at Nepalaya, Amrit Gurung, lead singer of Nepathya, Rama K Regmee, senior Journalist and Binaya Bohra, CEO at Vianet, travelled as well as delivered classes on Thursday at various schools in Sindhupalchowk, according to the press statement released by Teach For Nepal.

It added that more leaders will be traveling to Dhanusa and to rural Sindhupalchowk on Saturday to deliver classes on Sunday. Quoting Shisir Khanal, CEO of Teach For Nepal, the press statement read, "Education is more than what you read in textbooks. Given that Teach For Nepal fellows have limited exposure, we strongly felt that a direct access to leaders from various sectors would help build their aspirations. As Teach For Nepal fellows volunteer for two years, leaders volunteering for a day can make a huge difference.”
