Revive wins 3rd National Social Business Challenge

KATHMANDU, Aug 28: Revive’s presentation on recycling, upcycling, or reusing used clothes into reusable products won the title of the third National Business Challenge 2018, in an event organized by Yunus Social Business Center Nepal. The winning company’s founders Pushpa Sthapit, and Rajan Chakradhar also took away the winning prize of Rs 100,000.

Likewise, under the theme ‘Food and Women’, Hariyo Paat Sabaiko Saath won Rs 50,000, whereas Whpedia bagged the ‘Jury’s Special’ award along with a cash prize of Rs 50,000. Your Agricultural Product’s ‘Sustainable Agriculture’ and Waste Recyclers’ Renewable energy won Rs 25,000 and Rs 40,000 respectively in the same event.

The competitors were judged by a team of jury members that included Director of Nepal Communitere – Bahar Kumar; Director of Chartered Hotels – Varun Saraf, Director, CEO of Young Innovations – Bibhushan Bista, and the MD of Blitz Media – Juna Mathema.

Yunus Social Business Center Nepal conducted boot camps on entrepreneurship across Nepal including Biratnagar, Birgunj, Dhangadi, Nepalgunj, Dailekh, Janakpur, Pokhara, Kohalpur, and Chitwan which had a participation of a total of 406 youths. A total of 55 teams applied for the challenge where 10 teams were selected for the final round that was held on Sunday at Hotel Yak and Yeti, Darbar Marg.  Each team gave a four-minute presentation on their venture and answered the judges’ questions after their presentation. 

Various organizations including Daraz, King’s College, Nobel College, Himalayan Climate Initiative, Rural Access Program- Connect, Nepal Communitere, Travellers’ Map, Clock B Innovation, SEA Centre, Rural Development Initiative, Thrive Nepal, R & D Innovation, Blinc Venture, and OYORIASIA came together to collaborate for this challenge to promote social entrepreneurship.
