Prez Paudel returns home after visiting Switzerland and Germany

KATHMANDU, June 19: President Ram Chandra Paudel arrived in Kathmandu on Wednesday morning after his visit to Switzerland and Germany.

President Paudel was welcomed at the VVIP lounge of the Tribhuvan International Airport by Vice President Ram Sahay Prasad Yadav, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Chief Justice Bishwombhar Prasad Shrestha, Speaker of the House of Representatives Devraj Ghimire, Chairman of the National Assembly Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, deputy prime ministers, ministers, and other high-ranking government officials. During the ceremony, a contingent of the Nepali Army offered a guard of honor to President Paudel on the occasion.

President Paudel had left for Switzerland and Germany on June 11. His delegation included First Lady Sabita Paudel, senior officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the Office of the President.

During his visit to Switzerland, President Paudel held bilateral talks with Swiss President Viola Amherd on June 12. On June 13, he addressed the 112th International Labour Organization (ILO) conference in Geneva, inaugurating the "Global Coalition for Social Justice" forum as the keynote speaker.

On the same day, President Paudel also had a courtesy meeting with Gilbert F Houngbo, the director-general of the International Labour Organization (ILO).

After his visit to Switzerland, President Paudel commenced his official visit to Germany at the invitation of President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on June 15. On June 17, he held official talks with the president of Germany.

On Sunday, President Paudel visited various scientific and research institutions related to Germany's science and technology in Berlin and toured Eastern Germany. The Nepali community in Germany also extended warm greetings and felicitations to President Paudel during his visit.
