KATHMANDU, June 21: The monsoon this year has come to Nepal from the east. But, it will take some time to become active across the country, said the Meteorological  Forecasting Division. Starting in the eastern region, there will be heavy rainfall in other places of the country, and like the eastern region, other regions are also affected by the increasing rainfall.

With the arrival of monsoon, the probability of certain diseases has increased. Mostly, during monsoon, people should take special care of their children and their health and hygiene.

Monsoon rain has increased the risk of children catching diseases such as diarrhea, vomiting, typhoid, jaundice, viral fever, pneumonia, and allergies. Also, children suffer from illnesses like common cold and breathing problems.

Pediatrician Aanya Sharma says, following priorities regarding health should greatly matter to the parents of the children affected with the above-mentioned diseases:

These can be the symptoms of diarrhea:

Loose motion

Vomiting

Lack of water in the body

Symptoms of typhoid:

High fever

No other symptoms after three day of fever

Continuous diarrhea

Symptoms of jaundice:

Weakness in the body

Low appetite

Vomiting

Yellowness in the eyes after a few days

Yellow urine

Measures to control:

Keeping home and the surrounding clean

Sanitizing children

Drinking water only after boiling or other methods of purification

Avoid eating outside

Avoid stale food

Eat fresh and healthy food only

Wash children's hands before eating

Rehydrate children against diarrhea

Give plenty of water to drink to maintain the level of water in the body

Treatment:

Rehydrating children with oral rehydration solutions.

Prescription of proper medicines to control diarrhea

Prescribing antibiotics to control diarrhea

Suggestions:

The parents should pay attention to even trivial issues related with health and sanitation. Sometimes cold and diarrhea also take a complicated form, so you should always be careful. Since there are many types of germs in rainwater, children should be allowed to drink only boiled water.
