KATHMANDU: Former US Ambassador Theodore Kronmiller and Michael Kronmiller jointly inaugurated the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) lab at Kanjirowa National Secondary School on Thursday.

While addressing attendees at the program, Kronmiller stressed how the project would be beneficial for upcoming drone-based programs. He also advocated for further strengthening of the STEM lab.

People from Kanjirowa and Robotics Association of Nepal are to work together in the lab.

The lab is also set-up in an attempt to aid humanitarian efforts such as locating victims during times of crisis.

Kanjirowa’s executive director Mahendra Khanal also appreciated Kronmiller’s continuous four year support. Kanjirowa’s chairman Kapil Dev Regmi hopes that the lab’s use will extend to a larger community.

Kronmiller had been working with Kanjirowa for the STEM lab project since 2014.  They have been developing prototypes of unmanned aircraft systems, teaching the students how to assemble and fly drones. Krishpin Chaulagain, a student of Kanjirowa, had also gone to Kala Pattahar with Michael to test a drone on June 5.                   .
