NEPSE inches up 5.60 points; daily turnover falls to Rs 4.18 billion

KATHMANDU, June 25: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) on Tuesday increased marginally by 5.60 points to close at 2,071.77 points.

The market opened at 2,066.16 points and went through a series of fluctuations. The index reached the day’s high at 2,077.62 points in the first one and a half hours. However, the index fell to 2,069.55 points in the last five minutes before the market closed for the day.

The sensitive index that measures the performance of ‘A’ class companies added 0.20 points. The daily turnover declined to Rs 4.18 billion from Rs 5.07 billion on Monday.

Out of the 13 groups, five were the losers. Finance index declined the largest of 54.22 points, which was followed by non-life insurance, trading, banking and ‘others’. Of the eight gainers, the hotels and tourism index surged with the highest of 58.81 points.

Among individual companies, 151 were recorded as gainers whereas 88 were the losers.

RSDC Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Ltd had the largest turnover of its shares worth Rs 148.30 million. Global IME Bank Debenture 2084/85 was the topmost gainer and Sadhana Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha Limited was recorded as the topmost loser.
