Minor gang raped in Pokhara

KATHMANDU, July 7: Police have arrested two suspects from Pokhara accused of raping a minor. It is reported that the minor, from Myagde-4 of Tanahu, was lured by the suspects and then taken to Pokhara where she was raped. 

Those accused are Arun Kumar Das, 21, from Chhireshwarnath-10 of Dhanusha, and Sunil Kumar, 19, from Bihar, India, both currently residing in Ranipauwa-11, Pokhara.

According to Kaski Police, the accused on July 1 lured the minor and took her to Pokhara in a motorcycle with registration number Ga 8 Pa 4280. She was then taken to a residence in Pokhara where they threatened her and raped her.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Basant Kumar Sharma, spokesperson for the Kaski police, the accused were caught as they tried to escape during police checking, while they were on their way to drop the minor to her home in Tanahun at 3 AM in the morning. 

Police said that further investigation is underway with an eight-day extension of custody by the District Court Kaski on the charges of kidnapping, hostage-taking and rape.
