The Ministry of Home Affairs has requested to celebrate Tihar in a civilized, dignified and economical manner. The Ministry of Home Affairs released a press statement on Tuesday, which urged not to sing songs with disrespectful lyrics during the ‘Deusi Bhailo’ programs, as the festival is of national importance.

The press statement quoting Home Ministry's spokesman Ramakrishna Subedi, stated that action will be taken against those who sing and produce songs and music that affect the society in the name of the festival.

"We urge the people not to produce, sing, broadcast and distribute all kinds of songs and music and audio-visual material that affect society by distorting Nepali language, religion, culture and civilization," he said. “If such activity is done, the subordinate body will be instructed to take action in accordance with the prevailing laws.”
