Madhesh govt unveils budget of Rs 43.89 billion

JANAKPURDHAM, June 16: The Madhesh Province government has announced a budget of Rs 43.89 billion for the fiscal year 2081/82 BS.

Presenting the budget in the provincial assembly on Saturday night, Madhesh Province Finance Minister Bharat Prasad Sah outlined that Rs 16.71 billion (36.55 percent) is allocated for the current budget and Rs 27.89 billion (63.55 percent) for the capital budget.

The government has projected Rs 9.7 billion from internal revenue, Rs 7.80 billion from fiscal equalization grants under financial transfers, and Rs 3.56 billion from conditional grants. Additionally, it expects Rs 13.60 billion from federal revenue sharing and Rs 7.86 billion from last year's cash balance.

The Madhesh Province government has declared 2082 BS as Tourism Year and will launch the campaign 'Visit Madhesh, Understand Madhesh'. Finance Minister Sah announced this initiative during the budget presentation.

A budget of Rs 2.99 billion has been allocated for the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, and Tourism.

As part of the Chief Minister's ‘Green Province Campaign’, the government has included several key initiatives, such as planting 10 million trees, providing fully equipped ambulance services in every district, and achieving full literacy in Madhesh Province.
