It’s been seven years since KORA has been organizing cycling challenge with a cause. This year too, KORA is organizing the cycling challenge on Saturday, according to the press conference held in Cycle Restro, Jamal on Wednesday. The event is being jointly organized by Social Tours along with Cycle City Network Nepal (CCNN).

Bishwo Raj Gyawali, Director of Social Tours, said, “Every year, this event brings the cycling community together.  The cycling challenge is also a medium to spread awareness among people about the benefits of cycling in Kathmandu.”

He added, “It is neither a race nor a rally. It is a just a fun ride that you do because it makes you happy.” About 2,000-3,000 participants are expected at the event.

The challenge will have three trails – 50 km, 75 km and 100 km. The 50 km trail is for every rider, whereas the 75km and 100 km are for more serious riders. The cycling challenge will start and end in Patan Durbar Square on Saturday.

According to Bishwo, this initiative will help mark and market local trail destinations, which will benefit cycle tourism in Nepal. The promotion of cycle tourism can lead to reconstruction in Bungamati, while people might also have a chance to start new business in the area, he said.

People from the outskirts and beyond the valley also participate in the challenge. To make the ride more fun, riders will be welcomed by Dhimey Baja in Kirtipur.
