KATHMANDU, May 31: The International Relations Committee of the House of Representatives (HoR) has passed the Archives Preservation (First Amendment) Bill.

Friday’s meeting of the parliamentary committee passed the bill. Committee Chairperson Raj Kishor Yadav said the bill, designed to amend the Archives Preservation Act, 2046 BS, was unanimously passed after completing the clause-wise discussion.

The report of the bill, endorsed by the National Assembly—the upper house of the Federal Parliament—will now be presented in the HoR for endorsement.

There is a provision that the bill should be taken to the National Assembly again after approval from the HoR. If an amendment made by the HoR is accepted by the National Assembly, it will be certified by the National Assembly Chair and sent to the President for certification. The bill will become law after the President's certification and come into implementation.
