KATHMANDU, Aug 16: Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba is set to visit New Delhi next week for an official trip, delayed due to health reasons rather than diplomatic concerns.

Dr Rana had surgery for hyperparathyroidism at Max Hospital, New Delhi, in March 2024, and will leave for Delhi for a routine health check-up. During this visit, the Indian government extended an official invitation to her.

A source close to Dr Rana said, "Her visit was initially planned for health reasons. But the Indian side invited her upon learning of this."

Given the health-focused nature of her visit, few high-level meetings are expected. However, Dr Rana is scheduled to meet with Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar, following an invitation from him.

While the exact date of her departure is yet to be confirmed, she is likely to depart on Sunday.
