KATHMANDU, Sept 9: Lawmaker from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), Sumana Shrestha, has stated that due to the fighting between student organizations affiliated to the Prime Minister's and the Home Minister's parties, students coming to the university have not been able to study or take exams.

Speaking during the zero hour of parliament on Monday, Shrestha, who is also a former Minister for Education, Science, and Technology, noted that universities are increasingly focused on politics rather than education.

“Educational institutions are becoming less about education and more about party politics. One is the Prime Minister's party, and the other is the Home Minister's party,” she said.

Lawmaker Shrestha mentioned that students who have barely managed to study have not been able to complete their degrees on time. “What are we teaching the students? We don't let them study, we padlock universities. They barely manage to get through exams. Even after passing, their convocation ceremonies are halted,” she said.

She also pointed out that the convocation ceremony at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences was postponed due to the Prime Minister's interference.

“When will the Agriculture and Forestry University exam happen, and when will the convocation ceremony at Karnali Academy of Health Sciences take place?” Lawmaker Shrestha asked Prime Minister Oli.
