KATHMANDU, Oct 23: ‘Sirani: The Headrest’ by Manish Lal Shrestha, and ‘Shifting Values/Expectations Versus Reality’ by Bidhata KC is currently on display at Siddhartha Art Gallery, Baber Mahal Revisited. This exhibition marks the seventh series of works produced by the recipients of the Australian Himalayan Art Award. It is also a follow on from the first exhibition launched in April 2011.

The ‘Sirani: The Headrest’ by Manish Lal Shrestha series is a tribute to the artist’s late mother. He has used 10 different expressions of his self-portraits via pen and ink. Through his self-portraits, he has showcased a myriad of emotions. According to Shrestha, ‘Sirani’ represents the soft yet protective lap of his mother.

Meanwhile, KC’s series of paintings and installations is an exploration of the local culture. Likewise, she pays homage to the geographical features of Mustang, its unique architecture and walled city through her display. KC has tried to showcase how modernization would slowly replace traditional practices leading to the disappearance of some of the time-honored practices.

The exhibition that explores the different aspect of life continues till October 24.
