Eighth edition of ‘IME Nepal Literature Festival 2019’ sets off in Pokhara

The first day of the eighth edition of IME Nepal Literature Festival saw a considerable footfall despite turbulent weather conditions on Friday in Pokhara. Visitors thronged the venue to listen in on erudite conversations and meet their favorite authors and intellectuals as per a press statement released by Nepal Literature Festival.

After the inaugural session, Civil Society Leader, Devendra Raj Panday gave a speech on ‘Democratic Development and Public Accountability’, which was followed by six other sessions that dealt with topics like literature, tourism, gender equality and federalism.

It added, in the first session, panelists discussed the urgent need to rejuvenate the Phewa Lake if the ecosystem and the booming tourism at the Lakeside were to survive. Environmental Expert Debendra Bahadur Lamichhane; Chief of the Commission on Fewa Lake issues Bishow Prakash Lamichhane; Architect Engineer Kishore Thapa and Leading Tourism Entrepreneur Ganesh Bahadur Bhattarai were the speakers, while journalist Dipendra Shrestha moderated the conversation.

IME Nepal Literature Festival is the only international literary festival in the country to run for eight consecutive editions, the IME Nepal Literature Festival is a playground for authors, thinkers and literature connoisseurs.
