​​17 hospitals submit report cards to health ministry with various improvement measures

KATHMANDU, Aug 13: A total of 17 hospitals have submitted their report cards to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP).

The ministry’s Spokesperson Dr Prakash Budhathoki said that the hospitals submitted the report cards with details of work and services to the ministry on Monday.

He said that the hospitals submitted the report cards after the nine-point instructions from Health Minister Pradeep Paudel. According to him, Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital, National Trauma Center, Kathmandu, Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Bir Hospital, Patan Institute of Health Sciences, Kanti Hospital and others have submitted their report cards.

Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital has started providing services in two shifts, from 9 AM to 4 PM. The hospital has reported that it now distributes more than 90 percent of medications directly from its own pharmacy to health insurance beneficiaries.

The Paropakar Maternity and Women’s Hospital provides general outpatient services from 9 AM to 4 PM. The hospital has also introduced an online ticketing service, according to Director Dr Sriprasad Acharya.

Similarly, the National Trauma Center in Kathmandu has started offering 24-hour emergency surgical services. The hospital has arranged for patients admitted for routine surgeries to be scheduled within a week and for OPD to be scheduled within a month.

The Manmohan Cardiothoracic Vascular and Transplant Center has arranged to conduct surgeries within a month. The report also states that the hospital has set up an online system for obtaining laboratory reports.

Additionally, at Kanti Children's Hospital in Maharajgunj, the process of adding six beds for emergency pediatric care and 20 beds for monitoring has begun. The hospital has also improved its token system to better manage crowds.

The Patan Institute of Health Sciences has implemented a general and fee-based clinic system for crowd management. The hospital has mentioned that it will start a digital billing system from August 17 and will also begin providing OPD and surgical services on holidays.

Narayani Hospital in Birgunj has stated that there is no issue with bed availability. The hospital has implemented a token system and online ticketing to manage crowds.

BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital in Chitwan, Sushil Koirala Prakhar Cancer Hospital in Khajura, GP Koirala Respiratory Center in Tanahun, and Bir Hospital have also reported significant improvements in crowd management and sanitation.
