Woman dies after alleged beating

SIRAHA, June 21: A woman who was injured after she was allegedly beaten up by two men over the issue of cutting down a tree died today.

Tetardevi Mahato, 53, a resident of Goth Tole in Lahan municipality-9 was injured after Asharam Mahato and his younger brother Sumeshwor Mahato of Lahan municipality-15 thrashed her a few days ago following a dispute over the issue of cutting down a Sisau tree.

Though the woman returned home after treatment at the Lahan Hospital, she died this morning. Following her death, the Mahato brothers are on the run. The Area Police Office, Lahan said investigations into the case are underway.
