BANKE, July 15: The number of visitors has been increasing at the Bardiya National Park (BNP) here as this is the time when the tigers can be seen in the national park. The chances of spotting the wild cat are high during jungle safaris at this time of the year.

A group of German and Israeli tourists who had enjoyed a jungle safari on Tuesday were found very excited at the park gate.

Anuram Chaudhary, a nature guide at the Park, said the visitors were very happy and thrilled to see tigers in the course of the safari. "This is the time when the tourists' wishes of spotting tigers are mostly fulfilled. The main objective of the tourists choosing a safari is to see the tiger and this wish is mostly fulfilled," Chaudhary said.

The BNP has become the choice of both domestic and foreign tourists in recent days because of the high prospects of spotting a tiger.

BNP’s Chief Conservation Officer Bishnu Prasad Shrestha said that the number of visitors taking safari and jungle walks in the core area of the park has multiplied. He said that more than 10,000 tourists have visited BNP so far in the current fiscal year. The number of domestic visitors has also been going up.

"More than 10,000 visitors have toured around BNP as of mid-April of the current fiscal year 2021/22. This number of visitors is encouraging for us and we expect the number of visitors to increase further as this is the time when tigers can be seen in the park," Shrestha added.

According to him, a majority of the visitors coming to BNP are found giving more priority to observing tigers in the wild.
